The Word of God is truth and the eternal Word. Reminding ourselves of the fact that a sermon itself, which is an act of preaching God's Word of truth, achieves God's salvation work and also becomes a tool of the words for building God's church, we can be conscious of the importance of an effective delivery of sermon.
The very first thing for a preacher to research for giving deep impression for the believers in Korean churches is on the understanding of the audience's emotion. In other words, the understanding of the Koreans' emotion is the very first project for a preacher working in a Korean church to do research on. Nevertheless, when we take a look at the sermon history in Korean churches, it's really a deplorable thing that we cannot actually find any distinctive research work on the understanding of the emotion of Korean church believers. The realities are that in fact, it was not long ago that the importance of the audience in preaching a sermon was brought into relief. It can be judged that in the midst of such circumstance, the matter on the understanding of audiences' emotion cannot but be left out all the more. However, all preachers, who communicate the word of God, have to be conscious of the fact that to understand Koreans' emotion for an effective delivery of a sermon is a very important subject that shouldn't be overlooked at all.
This writer, though this research paper, commented on what is an effective way of delivering a sermon through the understanding of the audience's emotion in Korean churches. As a research method, this writer first looked into what the emotion are and argued the necessity of the understanding of emotion for an effective delivery of a sermon. In addition, this writer looked into the sermons through the understanding of emotion manifested in the Bible in the order of Jesus, Peter, and Paul. This writer demonstrated using the sermons of Jesus, Peter and Paul that all the sermons manifested in the Bible were the ones preached through the understanding of the audience's emotion. Further, this writer did research on Koreans' representative emotion ‘affection’ and ‘deep grudge (or accumulated rancor)’, through which this writer proposed ‘the use of narrative’ and ‘the use of the inductive method’ as a method of delivery of a sermon which is best suited for Koreans' emotion. Of course, I pointed out that there obviously exist some cautions in using these methods. This writer expressed his view that there obviously exist some wrongly wrought things, but unless their weak points injure the truth, we could make the most of their strong points in communicating a sermon as much as we want while discarding undesirable elements. Preachers have to turn the audience hearing the words into the people God expects to see by applying communication methods best suited to Koreans' emotion with the exemption of the things awkward and inappropriate to Korean people.
The sermon through the understanding of Koreans' emotion is a method of sermon communication which enables the purpose of a sermon to obviously be fulfilled with God's words of truth delivered more effectively. Therefore, the preachers in Korean churches are expected to make the best efforts to deliver an effective sermon through the understanding of emotion of the audience who hear the words.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

“한국인의 정서이해를 통한 효율적인 설교전달방법 연구”

하나님의 말씀은 진리이며 영원불변의 말씀이다. 하나님의 진리의 말씀을 선포하는 행위인 설교 그 자체가 하나님의 구원 역사를 이루며 하나님의 교회를 세우는 말씀의 도구가 된다는 사실을 상기해 볼 때 우리는 효율적인 설교전달의 중요성을 인식하게 된다.
한국교회 성도들에게 감동을 주는 효율적인 설교전달을 위해 설교자가 가장 먼저 연구해야 할 것이 있다면 그것은 청중의 정서이해를 위한 연구이다. 다시 말해 한국인의 정서에 대한 이해는 한국교회에서 설교하는 설교자에게 있어서 가장 먼저 연구되어야 할 첫 번째 연구 과제인 것이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 한국교회 설교역사를 살펴볼 때 정작 한국교회 청중들의 정서 이해에 관한 뚜렷한 연구들을 찾아볼 수 없다는 것은 참으로 안타까운 일이 아닐 수 없다. 설교에 있어서 청중의 중요성이 부각된 것은 실제로 얼마 되지 않은 것이 현실이다. 이러한 상황 가운데 청중의 정서 이해에 대한 부분은 더욱 소외 될 수밖에 없었다고 본다. 그러나 효율적인 설교전달을 위해 한국인의 정서를 이해하는 것은 한국 교회에서 설교하는 모든 설교자들에게 있어서 간과되어서는 안 될 매우 중요한 이해 대상임을 분명히 인식해야만 한다.
필자는 본고를 통하여 한국교회 청중들의 정서 이해를 통한 효율적인 설교 전달 방법이 무엇인지 논하였다. 연구 방법으로 필자는 먼저, 정서가 무엇인지를 살펴보았으며 효율적인 설교전달을 위한 정서이해의 필요성을 논하였다. 또한 성경에 있는 정서이해를 통한 설교들을 예수님, 베드로, 바울 순으로 살펴보았다. 예수님과 베드로, 바울의 설교를 통해 필자는 성경에 나타난 모든 설교가 청중의 정서 이해를 통한 설교였음을 보여주었다. 더 나아가 한국인의 대표적인 정서인 ‘정’(情)과 ‘한’(恨)에 대하여 연구하고 이를 통해 한국인의 정서에 가장 잘 어울리는 설교전달 방법으로 ‘이야기의 활용’과 ‘귀납법의 활용’을 제안하였다. 물론, 이러한 방법들을 활용함에 있어서 주의해야 할 점이 분명히 있음을 먼저 지적하였다. 잘못된 것이 분명히 있지만 그 단점이 진리를 훼손하는 것이 아니라면 우리는 그것을 버리고 좋은 점들을 설교전달에 활용해야 함을 논하였다. 설교자들은 한국인에게 어색하고 부적절한 것들은 지혜롭게 제외하고, 한국인의 정서에 가장 잘 어울리는 전달 방법들을 활용하여 말씀을 듣는 청중들을 하나님께서 기대하시는 사람들로 변화시켜야 한다.
한국인의 정서이해를 통한 설교는 더욱 효율적으로 하나님의 진리의 말씀이 청중에게 전달됨으로 설교의 목적을 분명히 이룰 수 있게 하는 설교전달 방법이다. 그러므로 한국교회 설교자들은 말씀을 듣는 청중들의 정서이해를 통한 효율적인 설교전달을 위해 최선의 노력을 다해야 한다.
