This study was intended to offer the ground data of group theraplay approach to improve attachment of abused children considering the importance of affection for abused children through understanding child abuse. For the study, first, concept of child abuse was understood. Second, child abuse and affection were examined. Third, it was tried to research into the intervention program for children who had unstable affection. Finally, group theraplay approach to improve affection of abused children was investigated. From the results, child abuse turned out to negatively affect the quality of affection for children and make children form unstable and avoidable affection, at first. It means that child abuse have a very negative effect on children`s development. Furthermore, the children, who have unstable affection, could continuously display it when they become adults, until there is not any intervention, and their unstable affection could make vicious cycle as being transferred to their children. Second, group theraplay could offer the opportunities to recover children`s relationship with their parents by recreating destroyed affectional relationship or bringing the memories when abused children were very close to their parents. Moreover, it gave the children new experience that was proper to children and they could feel that they were taken care of. Since children`s value was unconditionally accepted in theraplay, the children could realize that they were worth being loved or being protected. Accordingly, it was verified that theraplay approach is very important to form positive affectional relation for abused children in this study.
