惠民署硏究 - 沿革 및 職制를 중심으로

This study analized history and office system of Hyeminseo(惠民署) in the Chosun Dynasty. In the Chosun Dynasty, public health and medicare administration was leading by the government centered on Sameuisa(三醫司), that is Naeuiwon (內醫院), Jeoneuigam(典醫監) and Hyeminseo(惠民署). Hyeminsae(惠民署) was, one of the Sameuisa(三醫司), established with the object of public health and medicare for the people. Hyeminseo(惠民署) was considered the
sucessor to the Hyemingook(惠民局) of the Koryo Dynasty. Hyemingook(惠民局) of Chosun Dynasty united Chesaengwon(濟生院) in the 6th year of King Sejo(世祖), strengthened and expanded the organization & function.
That is, educated medical students(Uinyo<醫女> and Uishang<醫生>), and cured common people s disease. The official system of Hyeminseo(惠民署) was reformed according to the new government organization in the 12th year of King Sejo(世祖). It was fixed on 『Kyongkukdaejeon』(經國大典) and continued to the end of Chosun Dynasty without any great change. After Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592(壬辰倭亂) and Qing Invasion in Korea(丙子胡亂), Hyeminseo(惠民署) was merged into Jeoneuigam(典醫監) in the 15th year of King Injo(仁祖), but were separated soon. In the office system of Hyeminseo(惠民署), it is remakble increase military official posts(西班職) in the late of Chosun Dynasty. More research is needed on military official posts(西班職) of Hyeminseo(惠民署).
