Purpose: This study aimed to explore the changes experienced by parents of children with developmental disabilities who participated in a strength-based parent training program for Prevent-Teach-Reinforce for Families (PTR-F). It also examined the factors that facilitated these changes, the acceptability of the procedures, and the participants’ suggestions for future program improvements. Method: The study involved nine parents who participated in the parent training program at a special school in Gyeonggi-do. Focus group and individual interviews were conducted, and the transcribed data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: The analysis revealed five main themes and thirteen sub-themes: (1) background of participation, (2) changes in parents themselves, (3) changes in family members, including the child, (4) facilitating factors for change, and (5) suggestions for program improvement and future support needs. Conclusion: Participation in the program resulted in positive changes for the parents, including increased self-efficacy in behavior support, and also led to changes among family members. Key facilitating factors included the effectiveness of PTR-F strategies, strengths-based psychological support, diverse and individualized delivery methods, and the benefits of school-based implementation. Participants also emphasized the need for program refinement and advocated for the institutionalization of school-based parent training initiatives at the policy level.
