This study redefines the exhibition not as a site of representation but as a field in which perception is organized, and investigates how exhibitions generate thought. While previous studies have focused on the interpretation of exhibited objects and discourses, this paper examines the sensory arrangement and operational mechanisms that structure exhibitions. Focusing on the curatorial practice of Lee Young-chul, it analyzes how exhibitions organize perception and shape specific modes of experience. This paper conceptualizes the relational configuration of exhibitions as the “arrangement of perception” and defines its recurring principles as the “operational rules of exhibition.” The analysis shows that Lee’s exhibitions defer immediate interpretation and form nonlinear relationships among heterogeneous elements, thereby disrupting perception and generating conditions for thought. Ultimately, this study reconsiders curatorial practice at the level of exhibition methodology and proposes an analytical framework for understanding how exhibitions operate.
