This study was conducted to assess post-traumatic stress symptom, resilience and professional quality of life, identify correlations between variables, and identify factors affecting the professional quality of life among hospital nurses.
Data were collected from 245 nurses working in three hospitals over 300 beds in D and S city in August 2016 using self administered questionnaires.
Data were analyzed by pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Post-traumatic stress symptom showed a significant positive correlation with compassion fatigue and burnout , negative correlation with resilience. Resilience showed a significant positive correlation with compassion satisfaction and negative correlation with burnout. Compassion satisfaction showed a significant positive correlation with compassion fatigue and negative correlation with burnout. Compassion fatigue showed a significant positive correlation with burnout.
Post-traumatic stress symptom and resilience explained 36.2% of the nurses' compassion satisfaction. Post-traumatic stress symptom and resilience explained 20.8% of the nurses' compassion fatigue. Post-traumatic stress symptom and resilience explained 28.8% of the nurses' burnout. Resilience is a important factor which is affecting the professional quality of life, and facilitating positive coping with post-traumatic stress symptom.
