Purpose: This study aims to analyze the trends and characteristics of responsive teaching research for the developmental support of children with disabilities and at risk of disabilities, and to propose future research directions. Method: Researchers examined 24 papers published domestically from 2003 to 2023, selected based on specific criteria, to analyze the overall research trends and characteristics related to responsive teaching. Results: Firstly, the trend analysis indicated the need for including various types of disabilities and adult participants, applying diverse research designs, thoroughly measuring generalization and maintenance as well as intervention fidelity and social validity, expanding dependent variables, and specifically stating educational methods and strategies. Secondly, the analysis of characteristics related to responsive teaching showed variability in the number and type of responsive teaching strategies, the number of intervention sessions, and the time per session across studies. Conclusion: this study is expected to lay the groundwork for the application and development of responsive teaching strategies in the field of early childhood special education by comprehensively analyzing the trends and characteristics of domestic responsive teaching research and proposing future research directions.
