In the past few years physical education as a basic instruction program has seen a revival, due largely to societal trends emphasizing health and fitness. Therefore, this study was designed to identify new, creative, skilled, and committed management principles for the 21st century physical education program. The results of this study were as follows; If physical education program is to be a viable, benficial, and exciting part of the education offerings in higher education, it must beneficial, and exciting part of the education offerings in higher education, it must
1. Build a positive self-concept.
Self-concept is largely developed by how others perceive us and react to our efforts. Self-confidence grows as physical activities are successfully mastered.
2. Learn different roles.
Students who have had great success in traditional education settings may find themselves in unfamiliar roles, perhaps dependent on their teammates during physical activities.
3. Develop team communication skills.
Participants in physical activities soon sense a new atmosphere in the gym. Teammates learn to encourage each other and understand that theire success is dependent upon team communication.
4. Make success experiences.
All students in physical education can have the opportunity to establish relationships so they feel part of a group. This success experience should permeate physical education activities and sports.
5. Learn decision making ability.
If team members make successful decisions during physical activities, individual and team confidence grows, and with it a desire to take intellectual, physical, or emotional tasks.
