디지털미디어로서의 넷 아트에 대한 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

전세계가 온라인화 되고 인터넷을 통해 모든 정보를 교환할 수 있는 사회가 도래함에 따라 디지털 테크놀러지는 급속도로 변화 발전하고 있다. 최근 미술의 패러다임을 살펴보면 이러한 사이버스페이스 속에서 새로운 예술 장르가 발현하고 있음을 알 수 있다.현대인의 시각체험 영역은 디지털 이미지의 등장으로 과거세대의 사람들과 비교할 수 없을 정도로 확대되었다. 이제 컴퓨터 테크놀러지가 창작과정의 하나로 자리잡아 감에 따라 컴퓨터 아트(computer art), 인터랙티브 아트(interactive art), 미디어 아트(media art), VR 아트(virtual reality art), 알고리즘 아트(algorithmic art), 넷 아트(net art) 등 다양한 분류가 가능한 장르로 자리잡아 가고 있다.인터넷의 출현으로 시간적, 공간적 제약이 사라지면서, 아티스트와 디자이너의 주요 활동 무대가 네트워크로 옮겨지게 되었다. 이에 따라 아티스트들의 작품들은 전세계의 불특정 다수에게 공개하고, 그들로부터 비판과 찬사를 받으면서 활발한 교류가 이루어져 자연스레 이들간의 커뮤니티가 형성되었다. 이런 과정을 통해 서로 정보를 공유하거나 비평을 함으로써 작품을 완성해 나가고 공동 작업을 벌이는 등, 더 큰 시너지 효과를 만들어내고 있다.이러한 넷 아트(net art)는 인터넷을 단순한 갤러리 공간의 확장이나 이벤트 수단으로만 보지 않고 더 적극적인 소통의 전략으로 보았다. 일반적으로 정보를 다루는 측면이 중요하고, 전통적인 작품 개념보다는 좀더 광의의 창작적 실천이라는 특성을 지니기 때문에 결국 넷 아트(net art)에서는 아티스트의 컨텐츠 기획과 창의력을 고민하는 것이 문제가 된다.본 논고에서는 넷 아트(net art)가 디자인 커뮤니티 사이트를 통해 보여주는 웹 상에서의 창의적이고 실험적인 시도와 도전, 무한한 가능성에 대해 특성에 따라 유형을 나누어 분석해 보았다.넷 아트(net art)는 이제 시작이고 가능성이다. 앞으로 온라인을 통해 시·청각적 커뮤니케이션으로 현대인의 감성을 자극할 것이며, 보다 진보적이고 감각적으로 감상자에게 심리적 만족감을 주는 구현 방안으로서 예술문화 트렌드를 주도할 것이다.

Worldwide networks enable its community to share useful information and caused digital technology to develop rapidly is the cyber space, which also changed the paradigm of art today and brought the advent of the new genre of art. Digital images providing today`s internet users with extensively abundant visual experiences and computer technology which is considered an important phase of the creative processes developed computer Art, Interactive Art, Media Art, Virtual Reality Art, Algorithmic Art and Net Art. Free from the restriction of space and time, artists and designers tend to set their work laboratories on the Internet, which means that the result of their creative work can be accessed by the unknown netizens and consequently easily reviewed by them. On the other way, this interactions between the artists and netizens help them form a community providing mutual helps. which is considered important and necessary to produce a synergy effect. In the Net Art the Internet is regarded as a significant strategy of active communications, not merely an alternative gallery or a devices of a campaign. As a result, additional efforts to produce more creative pieces including well-designed contents are required in the Net Art. In this paper, I intend to categorize and analyze various design community internet sites run by the net artisis by probing their creative and experimental attempts. Net art has just launched and bears lots of potential to develop. It`s creative efforts on the Internet will accelerate more interactive audio-visual communication among netizens and arouse their emotional and creative imagination, and in hence Net Art will be considered a leading trend which can provide people with psychological satisfaction through easy access to the artistic pieces.
