In order to elucidate the effect of walking exercise on resting heart rate, oxygen consumption, exercise time to exhaustion and blood characteristics, 7 male subjects were participated in this study. Experimental measurements were executed before and after walking exercise which was carried out 14 days in raw by 25-30 km walking in a day. The results were as follows ;
1. Resting heart rate revealed slightly decreasing tendency after walking exercise.
2. Resting oxygen consumption revealed slightly increasing tendency after walking exercise.
3. Eexercise time to exhaustion was significantly(p<0.05) increased after walking exercise.
4. HDL-cholesterol revealed slightly increasing tendency after walking exercise.
5. Total cholesterol revealed slightly decreasing tendency after walking exercise.
6. The result of red blood cell counting was not different between pretraining and posttraining.
7. Hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit and MCHC(mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration) were all not different between pretraining and posttraining.
8. The result of white blood cell counting, lymphocyte and platelet were not significantly different between pretraining and posttraining.
From the above results, it is concluded that exercise time to exhaustion was significantly(p<0.05) increased after walking exercise, and other data(resting heart rate, resting oxygen consumption and blood characteristics) were not significantly different between pretraining and posttraining. Although it is supposed that these data were positively affected by walking exercise.
