The purpose of this article is to study NPC movement and citizen participation in Oyama, Japan. Oyama is a village, achieved successful regional socio-economic development through maturing indigenous resources, value empowerment of local resources, local image making, and training local leadership against urbanization and migration to the city area. In this article, I will discuss the process of regional change in the socioeconomic viewpoint of Oyama.
The main content is reviewing the examples of indigenous resource specialization and local socio-cultural development. The study methods used this article are limited in literal review, site surveying and time series analysis.
The results of this study are as follows:
1) The specialization of indigenous resource is crucial to improve local economic status
2) The valuable historic, cultural and human resources should be developed.
3) The resource oriented regional development should be bridged to development of indigenous cultural resource to achieve regional development.
