다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This paper aims to explore how John Edgar Wideman attempts to reestablish paternal authority and recover resistance to American racism in his nonfictional work, Fatheralong. While Wideman’s father was always absent from his family since he was young, Wideman accepts his father as his foundation to recover his paternal authority and resistance after his familys’ tragic event. While ignoring the presence of his father, who has been absent from the family all the time, Wideman, facing urgent racial issues, tries to understand his father’s harsh life in the North where his father has to avoid and deny the reality of racism like it existed in the South in a way to form a father-son solidarity. By taking trip to the Promised Land, South Carolina, he believes that he can help his father recover the paternal authority and resistance against the bare condition for racism in a way to affect his life like his father. He and his father witness the harsh reality in the South and then realize that resistance is necessary to get through the present American racial problems imposed on African American community.
