With the development of international trade, the impact of international logistics on international trade has attracted the attention of scholars. At the same time, the development of international logistics has also improved the environment of international trade and provided various convenient conditions for international trade. However, the economic development level and logistics development level of countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative are quite different, and China has a lot of constraints on its export trade to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Therefore, in order to give full play to the new opportunities brought about by the Belt and Road Initiative, an in-depth study should be conducted on the logistics issues in China's export link to continuously promote the development of trade between China and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Based on the sorting out of the existing literature, this study found that most of the literature studies have affirmed the role of international logistics in promoting international trade. Since the international logistics performance index is an important indicator reflecting the level of logistics development in various countries, this study selects the logistics performance index of 20 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. This paper analyzes the concept of international logistics, the theory of international trade development promoted by logistics industry and the influence of international logistics on international trade from the theoretical level. And the gravitation model is used for empirical analysis. The study finds that logistics performance and the GDP of the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative have a positive and significant impact on China’s exports. Among the logistics performance sub-indexes, customs clearance, logistics competitiveness, and logistics infrastructure have a positive impact on China’s exports. But the distance between countries has a negative impact on China's exports, and the GDP growth rate has no significant impact on China's exports. At the same time, this study also empirically analyzed the impact of the above variables on China's steel export. The results show that GDP has a positive impact on China's steel exports, and the distance between countries has a negative impact on China's steel exports. The logistics performance index and GDP growth rate have no significant impact on China's high-speed rail exports. However, in the logistics performance sub-indexes, customs clearance, logistics infrastructure and logistics competitiveness have a positive impact on China's steel exports. The reason for this result may be the low level of logistics infrastructure in the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, which affects other sub-indexes of logistics performance, so that the overall logistics performance indicators have no significant impact on China's steel exports.
