사상 : 중국해양사(中國海洋史)에 있어서의 동남(東南)아시아 지역명칭변천사연구(地域名稱變遷史硏究) = Thought : A Study on Name Change of “Southeast Asia” in Chinese maritime history

국문 초록 (Abstract)

중국 해양발전사에서는 동남아시아 지역을 ``남해’ 여러 나라라고 부르기도 했으며, 특히 원·명 시기에는 ``동양’·``서양’으로 구분해서 불려지다가, 청대에 들어서 동남아시아 지역에서 귀국한 사람들이 그곳을 ``남양’이라고 부르기 시작하자 곧 광범위하게 ``남양’이라고 하는 명칭이 사용되었다. 이러한 ``남양’이라고 하는 명칭은 1950년에 들서야 점차 동남아시아로 바꿔 부르기 시작했다. 이와 같은 동남아시아 지역에 대한 중국에서의 호칭에 관한 사항은 중국의 해양발전사의 측면에서 조명할때 비로소 체계적으로 파악되어질 수 있을 것이라고 판단한다. 그 이유는 고대 중국과 동남아시아의 여러 국가들 사이에 진행되었던 국제통상이 대부분 해상을 통해서 이루어졌었기 때문이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 오늘날 중국정부에서 매우 중시하고 있는 지역이며, 영유권 문제로 주변국들과 첨예하게 대립을 하면서 크고 작은 마찰을 일으키고 있는 남중국해 지역이 과거에 어떠한 변화와 발전의 과정을 거쳐 ‘동양’과 ‘서양’으로 구분이 되었었으며, 또 어떠한 경로를 거쳐서 ‘남양’이 동남아시아지역을 통칭하는 의미로 변화되었는지에 대하여 본문에서는 좀 더 심도있는 분석을 했다.

In Chinese maritime history, ``Southeast Asia`` had been called ``many nations of the South sea``. During the Yuan Dynasty & the Ming Dynasty, this region was divided into ``the East sea`` and ``the West sea``. And in the Qing Dynasty, name of ``the south sea`` largely used, because many people who returned to their country from the region called this ``the south sea``. This name gradually was changed to ``Southeast Asia`` after 1950. The change is only able to understand from recognition on Chinese maritime history. Because the most international trade between the ancient chinese and nations of ``Southeast Asia`` was done at sea. Currently, the chinese government is noticing the ``Southeast Asia``, acutely having a confrontation with neighboring countries. This paper`s point follows; Why did ``south china sea`` be divided into ``the east sea`` and ``the wes seat`` in the Yuan Dynasty & the Ming Dynasty?
