The aim of this study was to investigate effects of group music therapy program on reduction in social solitary of elderly living in community house. The subjects were 20 elderly women living in nursing home located at B Welfare
Foundation, in B District of D metropolitan city. 10 of subjects were randomly selected for experimental group and the others for controlled group. Solitary measures were used as measuring tool in pre and post, and
qualitative analysis was used sessionally. As a result of study, there was a significant reduction in social solitary scores of group music therapy program conducted, while those who were not had any significant reduction.
Therefore, group music therapy program seems to be effective in improving social solitary of elderly living in facilities. Furthermore, in sessional analysis related to effectiveness of group music therapy program, there were positive reactions, which were reduction in solitary through mutual e x change and through increase in cognitive function, cooperation and self-esteem.
