다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

The purpose of this study is to understand how the notion of time is concerned with the photography, and to propose a new perspective in the interpretation and use of the newspaper photography. People say in general that photography involves time, and that for that reason photography tells a history(or a story). But as Bergson says, time is duration. Photography captures, however, only a moment of time. not duration. In photography, there is no duration, therefore no time.
Photography does not include time and does not express it either. It just shows a specific moment in terms of space. The moment captured in photography is not the time but a kind of space. If photography is concerned with time, it is because the spectator projects his memories on the photography. The moment of photography gets possession of the length, which can be interpreted as duration, so to speak time, through this intervention of spectator's memory. The time invested in photography by the spectator's memory permits photography to tell a history. That is to say, photography itself does not tell any history. It is the spectator's memory that makes a history through photography.
For the newspaper photography, this problem of time is particularly important, for people think that the truth of the newspaper photography is guaranteed by the inviolability of the moment captured by camera. People say that because newspaper photography records a moment of the event which is important for the society, it testifies a historical fact and tells a true history.
But if photography does not necessarily involve time and history, and that it is through the intervention of the spectator's memory that photography gets possession of time and history, the notion of moment in the newspaper photography must not be regarded as inviolable as it seems to be. The newspaper photography would be taken as construction of space which appeals to the spectator's memory.
