The purpose of this study was to clarify the predictive power of college admission test scores on the achievement scores at college.
The results of this study were as follows.
1. In case of the total college students, the coefficient of correlation between college admission test scores and achievement scores at college was so low that the former had not the predictive power on the latter.
2. In case of the college students studing human sciences, college admission test scores were not related significantly to the achievement scores at college.
It means that college admission test scores had not predictive power on the achievement scores at college.
3. In case of the college students studing social sciences and studing natural sciences, the relationships between college admission test scores and achievement scores at college were the same with the case of the college students studing human sciences.
The following conclusions can be made on the basis of the results in this study.
First, although college admission test scores had not predictive power on the achievement scores at college, it is necessary to study other variables except the college admission test scores.
Second, although the college selected for this study had specific conditions, sampling for this study contained problems.
Third, continuous research efforts should be made to select excellent freshmen among appliers.
