The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of two representative Malaysian resorts, Genting highland and Cameron Highlands, as perceived by tourists who have visited them. This study was conducted using a focus group study, and the opinions of a total of 13 participants were summarized as follows. Tourists who had visited Genting highland and Cameron Highlands noted that these resorts offer a unique opportunity to experience cool weather in Malaysia, a country known for its tropical climate. One common feature of the two resorts is that both are located in highland areas. Because of this characteristic, many tourists from both Malaysia and abroad visit Genting highland and Cameron Highlands. Visitors also reported having memorable experiences at both resorts. Specifically, tourists expressed high satisfaction with the casinos, shopping malls, and restaurants at Genting highland. Meanwhile, visitors to Cameron Highlands were highly satisfied with hands-on tour programs, such as tea and strawberry farming experiences. The findings show that tourists who have visited these two resorts are willing to recommend them to others in the future, indicating positive perceptions and high levels of satisfaction. Overall, this study provides practical implications for Malaysia’s two leading resorts and offers useful information for improving their tourism appeal.
