The Effects of Career Guidance Program with Vocational Cards on Primary-School Children’s Career MaturityHwang, Mae-HyangChoi, Gyeong-Ae The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the career guidance program using the vocational cards on elementary school children’s career development. The 2 classes (66 children) of J Elementary School in Hamyang County, Gyeongsang Namdo Province were sampled for the present study. Each class was allocated to an experiment group and a control group. Before and after the program, career maturity inventory was administered to all students of the experimental group and the control group. The career maturity inventory was composed of 7 subscales (70 items) such as career orientation, occupational recognition, the reasonability of occupational selection, sexual prejudice in occupation, self-recognition, autonomy, and pride. Vocational cart sort program increased chidren's career maturity significantly, especially in career orientation, occupational recognition, the reasonability of occupational selection and autonomy. The implications of the result were discussed and the suggestions for the future research were presented.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 진로교육의 가장 초보적이고 기초적인 인식 단계에 있는 초등학생에게 직업카드분류 활동 중심의 진로지도 프로그램을 적용하여 아동의 진로성숙도에 어떠한 영향을 미치게 되는가를 구명함으로써 진로인식 단계에 필요한 기초적인 자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 초등학교 4학년 2개 반 학생 66명을 연구 대상으로 하여 그 중 1개 반씩 실험집단과 통제집단으로 나누고 진로발달검사지로 사전검사를 실시하였다. 실험집단에게 직업카드를 활용한 진로지도 프로그램을 5회기 실시한 후 진로발달검사지로 사후검사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 직업카드를 활용한 진로지도 프로그램이 아동의 진로성숙도를 향상시켰다. 그리고 직업카드를 활용한 진로지도 프로그램은 진로성숙도 하위영역 중에서 진로지향성 영역, 직업의 이해 영역, 직업선택의 합리성 영역, 자율성 영역의 진로성숙도를 유의하게 향상시킨 반면, 진로성숙도 하위영역 중에서 직업적 성편견 영역, 자기이해 영역, 자긍심 영역에는 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 주지 않았다. 이러한 결과가 초등학교 진로교육 및 지도에 주는 시사점을 중심으로 논의하였다.
