사이버 섹스 : 새로운 친밀성의 가능성인가? A New Possibility of Intimacy? = Cyber Sex

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글에서는 사람들이 사이버 섹스에 몰입하는 현상에 주목하여 1) 사이버 섹스는 무엇이며 얼마나 일어나고 있나? 2) 사이버 섹스가 증가하고 있다면 이의 사회구조적 맥락은 무엇인가? 친밀성에 변화가 일어나고 있다면 이 변화에 영향을 준 요인들은 무엇인가? 3) 친밀성의 구조변동이라는 맥락에서 사이버 섹스의 위치, 의미는 무엇인가? 등을 연구질문으로 던지고 접근하였다. 여기에서 사이버 섹스는 가상세계와 언어적 성이 결합한 것이라는 특성을 가지고 있는 현상으로 정의될 수 있다. 그리고 이러한 사이버 섹스는 사이버 성폭력, 사이버 성중독 등 다양한 형태로 나타나고 있다.
사이버 섹스가 나타나고 증가하는 사회구조적 맥락으로서는 위험사회, 정보화사회의 등장을 들 수 있다. 핵가족에 기반한 산업사회가 개인주의에 기반한 위험사회로 변화해가면서 사랑도 낭만적 사랑에서 "합류적 사랑"으로 이동하고 있는데, 사이버 섹스는 이 '합류적 사랑'의 특징에 정보화사회의 특징이 더 보태진 것으로 정의될 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로 사이버 섹스는 개인주의화로 특징되는 위험사회에서 다음과 같은 네 가지 특징을 가지고 있는 것으로 보인다. 1) 개인주의화와 잘 맞는 새로운 친밀성의 유형 제공 : 개인의 경계유지와 친밀성 욕구 동시 만족, 2) 욕망의 담론화 3) 경험의 격리, 4) 대리만족 등이 그것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article is aimed to deal with the following research questions: 1) What is the characteristics of cyber sex and how much does it occur? 2) If cyber sex is increasing, what is its social structural context? 3) What is the meaning of cyber sex in the context of structural transformation of intimacy? The term "cyber sex" as I use in this article refers to a liguistic sex in the internet.
Cyber sex can be defined as a sort of "merging love" characterized by individualism in a risk society on which the characteristics of information society are added. And cyber sex seems to have the following four characteristics: first, it provides a new intimacy well-fitted with individuation, that is, it simultaneously fulfills boundary maintenance needs and intimacy needs of the individual; second, it satisfies discursive formation of desire; third, it provides an opportunity to experience sex without getting into real sex, that is, segregation of experience; fourth, it provides substitute satisfaction.
