교부들의 요한계시록 주석 평가: 빅토리누스와 오이쿠메니우스를 중심으로 = An Evaluation on Church Fathers’ Commentaries on the Book of Revelation: Focused on Victorinus and Oecemenius

Jerome rated Victorious of Pettau(d. 304) as the first theologian to use Latin for biblical exegesis. The significance of Victorinus in the study of Revelation is the fact that he left the oldest commentary on the Revelation which remains. However, there is rare study that has analyzed and evaluated the entire commentary of Victorinus’s Revelation, or compared it in detail with the commentaries of Tyconius another Latin Father in the 4th century, and Oecumenius and Andreas Greek Fathers in the 6th century. This article first introduces and evaluates the commentaries of the Latin Fathers Victorious and Tyconius, and then introduces and evaluates the commentaries of the Greek Fathers Oecumenius and Andreas. After analyzing the commonalities of the four fathers, the differences are evaluated focusing on Victorious and Oecumenius whose commentaries are available till now. Finally, an application for a proper commentary on Revelation is suggested.
