Research on Low-Power Adaptive Headlamp Based on Ambient Brightness This study proposes a low-power adaptive headlamp system that improves energy efficiency by controlling light distribution based on surrounding brightness during vehicle operation. Conventional adaptive headlamps can adjust light distribution in response to oncoming vehicles but are not effectively designed to handle environments where sufficient brightness is provided by streetlight at night. In such conditions, driving with the headlamps on may result in unnecessarily high illuminance due to overlapping light, leading to energy waste. To address this issue, the beam pattern of the headlamp was controlled in areas where the illumination from streetlight and headlamps overlapped. Illuminance simulations were conducted to analyze these overlapping regions, and the headlamp light distribution was adjusted accordingly, with the results compared to conventional illuminance distributions. The proposed method of controlling headlamp light distribution in response to ambient brightness effectively reduces excessive illuminance and improves energy efficiency. by Lee Changhun Advisor : Prof. Jung Mee-Suk, Ph.D. Department of Nano - Semiconductor Engineering Graduate School Tech University of Korea
