The purpose of this study was to explore the variables of maternal rearing as they related to the internalizing syndromes found in children. The subjects of this study were thirty one children aged 4 to 6, and their mothers. The instruments used were intake sheets, K-CBCL, and the MMPI questionnaire on child rearing attitudes. The results were as follows:- 1) Girls exhibited more internalizing syndromes than boys. 2) The oldest children had more internalizing syndromes. 3) Syndrome affected children suffered from more sleep disturbances. 4) Rejection and o#or-protection of mothers related to the levels of anxiety and depression found in children. 5) Mothers` MMPI profiles of children who had syndroms was more depressive, anxious and borderline.
