일본지역 오픈 플랜형 공공도서관의 파퓰러 라이브러리 개념과 공간구성 및 가구배치 특성에 관한 연구 = Analyses on Spatial Compositions of Open shelf floor and Furniture Layout Characteristics of Open Plan Type Reading Rooms in Japan Public Libraries.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is to derive possibilities and implications for the concept of the Popular Library, focusing on the book type and furniture layout characteristics in the open-plan type public library. To this end, information collection and drawing data were obtained through field surveys of five public libraries in Japan. The results of the study are as follows. First, after examining the composition of the public libraries surveyed in Japan by type, the concept of a popular library was found in which the area of the quite zone was organized around the areas of general books, local and audio-visual materials, and the active zone was formed in the areas of theme books, living books, professional books, newspapers, periodicals, and library materials, while active browsing was enhanced. Second, the arrangement of bookshelves by type of books is judged to be a more effective method of planning for creating library areas by distinguishing and organizing active zone and quite zone in terms of furniture arrangement composition in bookstores and reading rooms. Third, there were five types of areas in the concept of the Popular Library. In future research, we will conduct surveys and analyses on the types of bookshelves and reading seats, and the layout characteristics of bookshelves based on the types of bookshelves, to ensure the sustainability of the research.
