TV 토론에서 '발언권 주고 빼앗기'의 담화 분석 = Discourse Analysis of 'Giving' and 'Taking' Floor in Korean TV Debate

This research aims at examining the occurrence frequencies and manifested aspects of floors (speech rights) exchanged between a coordinator and discussants, which are one of the important constituents of discussion This motivation leads to analyzing some transcribed material of real discussions on television First, the characteristics of discussion are comparatively examined with respect to other types of discourse, and the structure in which a coordinator, discussants, and audience give and take floors is reviewed. Then after the structure is divided into four types, such as direct giving. indirect giving. direct taking. and indirect taking. their respective modes of manifestation are examined through the analysis of real discourse material. By putting the occurrences of giving and taking floors as well as the number of a coordinator's floors into analysis, the real progression of discussion is evaluated. Thus the present research, I think, w ill serve as a basis for evaluating both the discussion progression and clarifying the discussion structure helpful to desirable discussion.
