This study is to propose new ways of designing hypermedia by reviewing traditional designing techniques such as the product-oriented approach and the process oriented approach. While these approach has long history for devising hypermedia system, they have produced the inevitable problems of learners’ cognitive overload as well as disorientation in the hypermedia space due to hypermedia’s innate structure consisting of nodes and links. For reducing these obstacles for learner’s navigation through hypermedia system, there have been attempted to devise a variety of navigation aids like global map or Iocal map and index informing where the leamer is located and where he or she can move to. Unfortunately, most of empirical studies did not supported the assumed positive effects of navigation aids on the facilitating learning achievement and/or reducing disorientation problems. Thus, alternative approach for reducing navigational problem as well as delivering more effectively organized hypermedia content to learners was attempted by researchers who are concerned about hypermedia content design issues. This line of study has addressed the object oriented approach for designing links between nodes by introducing attributes of nodes instead generic links representing content of links themselves.
