Objective
This study was aimed to analyse the traits of each Sasang constitution and Original symptom classified as Exterior or Interior, Cold or Heat, or Favorable or Unfavorable, using Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI).
Methods
A total of 103 subjects over 19 years old who were diagnosed with Sasang constitution and specific Original symptom based on Questionniare for Sasang Constitution Diagnosis (QSCCⅡ+) and comprehensive constitutional assessment, and completed MBTI and TCI questionnaire were analysed. The participants consisted of 22 Soeumin, 52 Soyangin, and 29 Taeeumin. Classified by Original symptom, there were 59 people who had cold pattern, 44 people who had heat pattern, 69 people who had favorable pattern, and 34 people who had unfavorable pattern.
Results
In MBTI, Soyangin were significantly extrovert than Soeumin in which exterior symptom group had significantly higher tendency of TP(thinking and perceiving) type than interior symptom group had. Also, Cold pattern group were significantly more judging than Heat pattern group. In TCI, significantly higher score in Novelty Seeking(NS) was shown in Taeeumin, heat pattern group, and unfavorable pattern group. Meanwhile, significantly higher score in Harm Avoidance(HA) was shown in Soeumin interior symptom group and Taeeumin unfavorable pattern group.
Conclusions
This study was designed to report the long-term
This study confirms the differences in MBTI and TCI according to Sasang constitution and Original symptom. However, a larger number of study populations is required to validate the correlation between MBTI, TCI, and Original symptom.
