The Analysis of Learners' Message Types and Interaction Patterns in Web-based Team Learning Environment

      Lee, Young-Min

Current theoretical and empriacl studies on learners' interaction in web-based team learning have lack of valdity in terms of message types and interaction that occured during the learning. In addition, the results of studies regarding interaction patterns may not be generalazable across different studies. For this reason, we examined the frequency of message types posted by the learners and interaction patterns generated by the combination of the message types, using the sequential analysis and the transition state diagram. We found that: 1) "agree/disagree" message and "state a proposal" message were highly observed; 2) interaction patterns between "state a proposal" and "agree/disagree", "agree/disagree" and "agree/disagree", "direction" and "direction" were observed mostly; and 3) transitional probability and state diagram showed the visualization of team interaction.
