본생담의 북전과 대승경전으로의 전환 - 지역적 특수성과 민족성에 따른 붓다바라보기 방식의 차이 - = The Transmission toward North and the Transition to the Mahayana Sutra of Jataka: the differences of reading sutras depending on the regional and racial characteristics

국문 초록 (Abstract)

자타카는 무려 547편의 이야기가 담긴 방대한 분량의 붓다 전생고사이다. 자타카는 중국 남북조시대 이전에 한역이 끝난다. 다른 불교경전이 재번역을 거듭하는 것에 비해 자타카의 한역은 다른 양상을 보인다. 본고에서는 동일 시대에 한역된 자타카 텍스트에 집중해 한역의 기준, 구성체제에 대해 알아본다. 한역 당시의 기준점은 초기대승불교에서 공통적·반복적으로 강조되고 있는 6바라밀·공양·보살·수기에 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 즉 인도의 우언(寓言)과 연관되어 불교적으로 서술된 자타카에 초기대승불교의 관점을 투영시켜 재편집과 번역을 한 것이다. 그리고 기준에 부합하는 자타카의 내용이 중심이 되기 때문에 재편집 과정에서 547편의 모든 자타카가 수록되지 못하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Jataka is voluminous literature comprising 547 tales about the previous births of Gautama Buddha. It was translated to Chinese before the Period of North and South Dynasties.
At that time, the translation of sutras in China were mostly focused on the ideas of the early Mahayana such as six paramita, offering, Bodhisattva and vyakarana. As the standard for Mahayana ideas was applied to Jataka, some of the 547 tales which could not reach it were deleted on translated version while editing.
While Jataka had been shown in various ways in India and on the Silk Road for a long time, it was temporarily shown in China just before the Period of North and South Dynasties. Afterward Jataka had been rapidly taken places by the Mahayana sutras.
Comparing the differences of the religious belief and its expressions between China and the western region, there are explanations about connection from Jataka to Mahayana sutras.
