This study was performed to investigate the effects of Bogwonwhalhyeoltang(BT) on the intravascular coagulation induced by endotoxin in rats.
The intravascular coagulation was induced by injecting endotoxin in the caudal vein of rats. And these rats were treated with Solid extract of BT-640㎎/200g(Sample A) and 897.6mg/200g(Sample B), which were administered orally, And then the number of platelets, Concentration of fibrinogen, Prothrombin time and FDP(fibrinogen degradation products) were measured.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. Platelet of the trial groups was increased compared with the control group, and revealed a significance in Sample A.
2. Fibrinogen of the trial groups was increased, and revealed a Significance in Sample B.
3. Prothrombin time was shortened in the trial groups and revealed a Significance in Sample A.
4. FDP was decreased in the trial groups.
According to the above results, Bogwonwhalhyeoltang had Signifant effects on Fibrinogen, Platelet, Prothrombin time and FDP. Therefore, it is considered that Bonwonwhalhyeoltang can be applied to the diseases related to thrombosis.
