유아교육기관 평가 모형과 통계적 접근방법 비교 = A Statistical Approach for the Evaluation of Early Childhood Educational Institution

This study was to provide the empirical evidences that early childhood educational institutes can be evaluated via an appropriate statistical method. In order to show the appropriateness of the proposed model, which called the educational accountability model, this study investigated the similarities and differences between the two models: 1) traditional accreditation model: qualitative evaluation model, and 2) the educational accountability model; quantitative evaluation model that employed the multilevel modeling techniques. The study analyzed the data of 1,516 children from eighty early childhood educational institutes located at the five metropolitan cities in Korea. The findings showed that the accountability model can provide richer information for the summative and formative evaluation for the educational institutes although the summative evaluation results from the two models are close enough. The practical significance and the applicability of the accountability model were discussed with its limitation.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 기관평가의 맥락에서, 통계적 분석모형에 의한 유아교육기관 평가의 가능성을 경험적 증거를 바탕으로 제시하기 위한 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 기관의 효과를 정의하는 이론적, 방법론적 관점에 따라 1) 평가인정모형(질적 평가모형)과 2) 교육책무성모형(양적 평가모형)을 설정하였다. 두 모형의 이론적, 방법론적 차이를 문헌연구를 통하여 비교하였으며, 전국 5개 광역시에 소재한 80개의 유아교육기관에 재학하는 1,516명 유아들의 자료를 분석하고, 평가방법에 따라 제공되는 정보의 유형과 가치를 비교하였다. 두 모형에 의한 최종적인 평가결과는 유사하였으나, 기관평가모형으로서 양적 평가모형의 실제적 적절성을 경험적으로 제시하여, 공정하고 객관적인 유아교육기관 평가 모형으로서 통계적 방법에 의한 교육책무성 모형의 가능성을 보이고자 하였다.
