The overall purpose of this study is to provide further insight into the pattern and decision factors of consumers with respect to their restaurants choices, in order to set database for managerial strategy and market segmentation.
To accomplish the purpose of this study, two hypothesis were adopted.
H1 : There is difference of the factors that determine restaurants choice by demographic variables.
H2 : There is difference of the factors that determine restaurants choice by dining-out motives.
To test these hypotheses, the questionnaire survey was conducted at the four Korea style restaurants in Tae-gu. The statistics were analyzed by SPSS for window version 7.5.
Frequency analysis and crosstabs analysis are employed to identify the underlying demographic attributes. Factor analysis is used to understand the factors that determine restaurants choice. T-test and one-way ANOVA with Dunnett multiple range test are employed to identify the difference of the factors that determine restaurants choice by demographic variables and dining-out motives.
The results of this present study show that the food taste appear to be the most important standard of restaurant choice, Korea style restaurants customer's are influenced by word of mouth, promoting.
This study should be considered more since the sample was not completely random and it was confined to one area the city of Tae-gu, so that similar research undertaken in other areas may show different results.
