하와이 이주 한인의 건강과 헬스커뮤니케이션 특성

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims at investigating the features of health and health-communication of Korean Immigrant and analysing the issue related. The result of the study will provide the baseline for developing health promotion programs.
10 Korean Immigrants participated in the study. Critical Ethnography has been for gathering and analysing the data. The results of the study can be summarized as below;
The characteristics of Korean Immigrants’ health can be divided into two types of Health-oriented and labor-oriented. Health-oriented type includes exercise-centered, food-centered, routine-managing and combination type. Labor-oriented type is composed of family-centered and money-centered.
The acquiring chanel of their health information and the characteristics of information usage are analyzed by language proficiency and economic status since the personal variance of participants could interview in a complex way.
The source of health related information used by them includes professional consultation, English media, Korean media, religious community, and the Korean Communities according to their English Language proficiency.
The findings of the study suggest as follows: 1) the environment that can develop health management and health promotion by Korean communities and Korean government should be fostered. 2) the understanding the role of the communication characteristics in their health behaviors is important.
