This study was aimed to examine the reliability and validity of four measurement tools of self-related affects such as the Purpose-In-Life Test(PIL)(33 items), the Ego-Identity Scale(EIS)(75 items), the Irrational Belief Test(IBT)(20 items), and the Scale for General Self-Worth(GSW)(15 items), which was intended to measure the healthy personality.
Four scales of self-related affecfs were administered to 276 college students and 100 high school students(adjusted, 50: maladjusted, 50) in autumn, 1977.
The reliability of the tests obtained from the subjects of college students were ranged from .85 to .94. according to the scales(PIL. .86: EIS. .94: IBT. .86: GSW. .85). The scores of EIS. PIL. and GSW were highly and positively inter-correlated by the correlations of .64 to .77 and were highly and negatively correlated with the score of IBT by the correlations of -.33 to -.41.
Mulitple Discriminant Function Analysis was employed to evaluate the discriminant power of adjusted and maladjusted students of the self-related affects tests. It was found that the proportion of the cases correctly classified into adjusted or maladjusted group by using the tests of PIL, EIS, IBT, And GSW was .65.
