The purposes of this study were threefold. First, the study attempted to formulate a conceptual framework concerning the creative personality. Secondly it involved the identification and measurement of the creative personality based on its conceptual framework. Finally the major purposes of the study was aimed at establishing the construct validity regarding the instrument of assessing the creative personality.
For this, a theoretical approach to the conception of creative personality was made on the point of view of psychoanalysis and humanism. The conceptional model of creative personality designed on the level of these two thories, and then preceding studies related to the variables of creative persnality were anlized were analized and integrated.
As a result of that, such seven variables as flexibility, umor, dominance, curiosity, self-acceptance, autonomy, and risk taking were regarded as the measurement variables, and scale of creative personality was designed after the measurement model of creative personality had been set up. The scale produce like this consist of seven variables, which included 156 items.
The exploratory test procedures and the confirmary test procedures were carried out for the sake of the validation test this scale. Reliability and factor analysis indispensable to making a tool were performed in these two precedures.
1. The Exploratory Test Procedures
Subjects for this exploratory test procederes were 214 stdents (105 males and 109 females) in middle school.
To increase the validation of the creative personality scales, items of the scale were selected through the two following criterions after confirming content validity
As the first criterion which was regarded as the inferring level of reliability,
1) Negative items in an item-total correlation, and
2) the items which decrease the reliability of dimension to which they belong were deleted.
As the first criterion of factor analysis in the second stage,
1) items whose factor lodings were less than .20, and
2) items which it was tested how valid their content reliability contents were, which would have shown high factor loding in other factors, based on those criterions, and were deleted.
By using the result, the second criterion of factor analysis, by which items were selected,
1) based on the items of each factor which, at least showed from-80-to-90-percent factor loding in the dimension to which items belonged according to factors.
2) based on the items whose factor loding was more than .20 in the dimension of each factor.
As the result of deleting some items by those criteron, the exploratory scale consisted of six factors including 107 items This scale showed Cronbach- =.73400 -.88801, so it could be inferred that this scale was proved to be valid.
2. The Confirmary Test Procedures
The confirmary test procedures had larger sampling than the exploratory test procedures in order to increase the possibility of generalization by incsreasing the validation of the explorat ory test procedures. Subjects for this procedures were 576(males 298 females 278) in middle school. Cross-Validity approach was put in practised to confirm error variance of the scale. For this, the total sampling was divided into two groups, and reliability and factor analysis were tested
Tn addition, to validate the tool concurrent validity and non-concurrent validity were computed
The followings are the result.
Reliability was .60294-.86968. Since the difference of cross-validity between the two groups was not great, the possibility of generalization was confirmed
Besides this, as the result of computing concurrent validty, the validity of the scale was proved to be valid as the correlation among variables such as humor, curiosity, and risk-taking was.40.35.34 respectly. The result of computing non-concurrent validity showed that the creative personality scale and the standardized creative scale were turned out to composed of independent variables since the correlation between these these two scales was not significant. Therefore, the validation of the scales was comfirmed to be valid in another point of view.
This result indicated that the creative personality scale designed in this study was an valid tool to confirm creative personality.
