This experimental study is to investigate the intermittent spray characteristics of a multi-hole nozzle in a heavy-duty DI diesel engine<br/>
It has a 2-spring nozzle holder. and its hole number is 5 (dn = O.32mm). By using the 2-D PDPA(phase Doppler particle analyzer). the droplet diameter and velocity of the diesel spray injected intermittently from the multi and single-hole nozzle into the still ambient were measured<br/>
To analyze the intermittent characteristics. the time-window of O.15ms were applied to this study. In the spray. the small droplet(D(lO ㎛) was regarded as a air flow. and the intermittent characteristics of the fuel drop]et(lO㎛<D<500㎛ ) and the air flow were examined. The normalized axial droplet-air relative velocity of the 5 hole and the single hole nozzle is 0.13 and 0.113 respectively.
