Design provisions play a significant role in structural engineering. They provide minimum requirements for design and construction of structures or for safety, facility and functionality of facilities. Unfortunately, the frequent revisions of design provisions and hard-carded conversions of application program make the job of the program developer very difficult. In order to resolve such a problem, this study presents a methodology for processing design provisions by representing the terms of provisions and also by an extended version of the conformance of design entities with the design provisions. Therefore the new product model for steal structural beams can be used to check the requirements of the design provisions as constraints on design entities.
