근대적 시공간의 성찰과 동일화의 경계 혹은 사이 = 로컬리티-기반의 시공간 탐색을 위하여

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이글은 근대적 시공간 관념에 대해 성찰하고, 그 시공간의 바깥을 조망하고 이해하기 위한 자리를 확보하는 차원에서 경계 혹은 틈새 공간을 모색해보려는 시도이다. 근대는 확정적 미래가 현재를 덮어쓰기 하면서 시작됐다. 현재가 미래의 원인이 되는 것이 아니라, 미래가 현재의 원인이 되는 것이다. 이런 측면에서 근대의 역사적 시간은 역행의 시간으로 우리를 강제하고 있다.
정해진 미래에 스스로 감금된 영웅에게 내려진 현재의 형벌을 인류의 일상으로 바꾸는 작업이 바로 근대의 세계관이 행해왔던 작업이다. 그러나 이들의 이상과 이념은 ‘근대성’이라는 준거 위에 건립된 역사의 극장이 가르쳐온 교육된 상상(력)의 산물이다. 이와 같은 동일화를 통한 심리적 혹은 정신적 이동, 아니면 상상의 이동은, 현실의 차이와 차별, 그로 인해 부닥치는 다양한 경계들, 자신에게 가해지는 제한된 경로와 공간적 제약들 따위를 각성하지 못하게 만든다.
동질화된 문화와 교육의 산물인 과잉 동일화와 그 현상을 극복하기 위해서 우리는 동일화와 대상화 사이의 공간에 주목할 필요가 있다. 동일화는 관성적인 반면, 대상화는 반성적이라고 할 수 있다. 인간은 자기 이외의 세계에 접근하는 이런 두 가지 원초적 사유의 긴장을 통하여 노동하고 놀이하며 생존해온 것 같다. 동일화와 대상화 사이의 공간이 바로 ‘지금, 여기’의 공간이며 로컬리티-기반의 참된 생성의 공간이 될 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper tries to explore border or in-between spaces to reflect upon the modern spatial/temporal idea, and to shed light on and figure out the outside of the modern space and time. Modern world had begun to cover the present with the closed future. The logic is that the present becomes not the cause of the future but the future becomes the cause of the present. In this respect, the historical time in modern age has forced us to live reversing time.
What the world view of modern age has practiced is the project to change the punishment imposed on a modern hero for his will into the daily life of human in a general basis. But the ideas and ideologies of modern heroes have been produced by the educated imaginations which were taught in the historical theater built upon the modernity. The psychological or imaginative migration through the identification with the hero or the idea argued by him makes the people not acknowledge differences and discriminations in daily life which charges limited paths and spatial limitations upon them.
I argue that we need to pay attention to the interstices between identification and objectification to overcome the over-identification and the phenomenon resulted by it. While identification tends to be inertial, objectification tends to be reflective. Human in history have survive so far laboring and playing through the tension between the two basic way of thinking to approach the mental or material worlds. I think the spaces between identification and objectification which lie out of the modern space and time could be true generative spaces on a locality basis as "now and here."
