To insure the success of the new national curriculum (Curriculum 2000), which emphasizes individualized teaching-learning, the dramatic reform of textbooks is required. This paper discusses how textbooks have to be reformed according to the changes of the national curriculum.
Suggestions are made about the types of textbooks appropriate for each of the four kinds of individualized curriculum, and the four measures to improve the organization and content of the textbooks. The paper concludes with the suggestions for the reform of textbook-related policies.
