The purpose of this study is to investigate the concept of children's social competence, how variables affect the children's social competence, and how training method improve the children's social competence.
The major findings are as following :
(1) The variables which affect the children's social competence are sex, temper, their siblings, parental childrearing behaviors, communication, social support. Children who more perceived social support than less perceived social support were highly rated in social competence. Children's social competence reported highly when parental childrearing behaviors were warmth and acceptance.
(2) Several education methods improve children's social competence : role play, socio-dramatic play, puppetry, modeling, group activity, music therapy, art therapy.
