An experimental and analytical study on the behavior of SC(steel plate - concrete) structure's wall-support joint for nuclear power plants was performed. Nine full scale specimens were tested with horizontal monotonic load, all acting in the same plane causing uni-axial moment on the SC structure's wall-support beam joint.
The major focus relates to the identification of the behavior and capacity of the SC composite joint system. The effects of variations of the location of support, the thickness of steel-plate and the depth of support were studied. The horizontal force-displacement relationship, steel-plate strains, plate deformation, support strains were observed and analyzed in order to evaluate the behavior of the system.
