초등교육의 목표, 내용, 교사 자질에 관한 인식 연구 = A Study of Perceptions on Aims, Contents, and Teachers' Dispositions in Elementary Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

초등교육의 목표, 내용, 교사 자질에 관하여 5～6학년 초등학생, 중·고등학생(10대), 대학생(20대), 초등학교 학부모(30～40대) 총 280명에게 설문지를 통해 인식을 조사하였다. 연구결과 초등교육의 목표로 지식전달 보다는 인성함양에 초점을 두어야 한다고 보았다. 초등교육의 내용 면에서는 초등학생들은 활동을 많이 하는 교과를 선호하였으나 나머지 연령대 사람들은 주요 교과(국어, 영어, 수학)의 중요성을 강조했다. 교과내용에 삭제 혹은 첨가해야 할 사항에 대한 의견도 연령대에 따라 다양하였다. 초등교사의 자질은 매우 다양한 견해가 나타났지만 지식전달에 필요한 사항보다는 압도적으로 교사의 인성적 측면을 강조하여 과외교사와의 차별성을 강조했다. 초등학생들은 구체적이며 현실적인 초등교육의 모습을, 다른 연령대의 사람들은 이상적인 초등교육의 모습을 기대한 점에서 차이가 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The study investigated aims, contents, and teachers' dispositions in elementary education, perceived by elementary students(5th & 6th graders), teenagers, college students, and parents of elementary students. The open-ended questionnarie was used, and the method of frequency counts was implemented. The results showed that even though there were various perceptions represented in the area of the aims of elementary education, it was consented that the cultivation of personal nature was much more important than the instruction of knowledge. In this study, the elementary students preferred activity-based subjects (e.g., PE, Art, & Music) whereas others gave an emphasis on the major subjects (e.g., Korean, Math, & English). The ideal dispositions asked for elementary teachers were varied, however, they differentiated elementary teachers from private tutors by focusing on the aspects of caring, warmness, patience, sincerity, and sacrifice. The major difference between the elementary students and others was that the students represented specific and reality-based ideas, however, others showed expected and ideal aspects of the elementary education.
