Many investigations have made it clear that placental transfusion is beneficial to the infant with regard to haemodynamics and iron-metabolism.
A method is described which the placental blood reaches the infant gently and at a physiological procedure.
In 20 deliveries the amound of transfused blood from placenta was 20~25% of baby body weight, and was 75~80ml.
At present, blood type incompatibility and prematured infant are the only contraindication for this method, but its extended application may widen the range of
contraindications.
