‘지역 공동체 내에서 나이 들어가기’ 관점에서 살펴 본 농촌 독거노인 공동생활거주제에 관한 연구 = Understanding of Communal Living for Older Adults who Live Alone in Rural Area Based on Concepts on ‘Aging in Community’

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to understand experiences of communal living arrangements for older adults who live alone in rural areas based on the concept of ‘aging in community.’ It is the exploratory and theory-based qualitative research utilizing the sensitizing concept. Participant observations in communal living areas as well as in-depth interviews with 47 participants were collected and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Four main themes were emerged as follows：1) aging together rather than aging solo with long-standing neighbors, 2) being isolated from the community and bored on their own in communal place, 3) working for one’s own village in which one who is taking the initiative and ones who follow, 4) having the community transformed since the formal and informal caring had been interwoven together. Based on research findings, the practical implications are suggested for enabling the rural elderly to age in community.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 농촌 지역 독거노인 돌봄의 대안으로 시도되고 있는 공동생활거주제1) 를 ‘지역 공동체 내에서 나이 들어가기(aging in community)’ 틀에 비추어 살펴보려는 것이다.
‘일깨우는 개념(sensitizing concepts)’을 활용하여 현재 우리나라 농촌 지역에서 실행되고 있는 공동생활거주가 ‘지역 공동체 내에서 나이 들어가기’ 개념 안에 비추어 볼 때 어떤 모습을 하고 있는지 탐색하고자 하였다. 참여관찰 및 47명과의 심층 면담 자료를 질적내용분석 방법에 따라 분석한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 혼자가 아니라 오래된 이웃과 함께 서로를 의지하면서 늙어가고 있음, 2) (그러나) 지역과 단절된 채 자기들만의 무료한 일상을 보내고 있음, 3) 마을 살리기에 앞장 서 행동하는 소수의 노인과 따라가는 다수의 노인들, 4) 공식적인돌봄과 비공식적 돌봄의 만남으로 변해 버린 지역 공동체. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 공동생활거주제가 나아갈 실천적 방안에 대해 제안하였다.
