수도권 한 대학생 집단의 농촌 인식: 농촌성에 대한 담론 분석 = A College Student Group's Perception of the Rural: A Study on their Discourses of Rurality

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 사회적 표상 이론을 적용하여 수도권 소재 한 대학생 집단의 농촌 인식을 분석하였다. 사회적 표상이란 사람들의 일상 담론 속에 어떤 대상이나 개념을 이해하기 위해 동원되는 핵심적 상징요소를 지칭한다. 이 핵심적 상징요소들은 한 사회가 그 대상을 정의하는 방식이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 조사대상 대학생들의 농촌 인식은 비교적 피상적이었고 인식 속에 내재된 핵심적 상징요소는 학교교육이나 대중담론의 내용과 유사하였다. 또 목가적 농촌 이미지를 확인할 수 있으나, 이를 매개로 한 공간행동을 유발할 정도로 구체적인 인식 수준에 못 미치는 것으로 파악되었다.

How to define the rural or rurality has been a very tricky question around rural researchers. As an
alternative to this, the theory of social representation has suggested by some researchers. This paper also examines a
college student group’s lay discourses of the rurality grounded on theory of social representation. The symbols,
images and concepts which College students have in their discourses about rurality can be concluded as similar to
popular discourses. And also a naive acceptance of ‘rural idyll’ can be captured in their social representation of the
rurality. But their ‘rural idyll images’ is so superficial that can’t be ranked as a hegemonic ideology.
