동래기영회의 활동과 변화를 통해본 지역성

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Unlike other regions, Dongnae, based upon the distinctive characteristics of the area, has had the local powers who, known as the official clerks and military officers, have exercised their influence over the local society from early modern Joseon to modern times. In the 19th century, they organised a community called Dongnaegiyounghoi. It is no doubt that few communities are maintained, as it does, for a long time with their own traditions among the various social organizations including the fraternal society.
The members of Dongnaegiyounghoi have led and influenced the local society by doing a wide range of activities. For example, they carried out the local rituals: a sacrificial rite in Songgongdan and Gwanhwang tomb, established some schools including Dongnaebu school with educational movement, launched the patriotic and enlightenment movement in the period of Japanese colonial rule, such as paying off national debt, led the local economy by setting up and running the financial companies including Dongnae Bank and Gupo Bank, and did cultural activities through the social group as well.
It has been operated in social network which has been woven from the element of time from being founded to the present and space of Dongnae. As a result, It has been its members’ recognitions and activities combined with both these factors that has formed the identification of region of Dongnae and steered its way to modern society.
