In. this paper, the Hwarangdo(Hwarang corps` tao: 花郞道) and education of Silla in Samguk Yusa will be analysed and examined. The origin of the Hwarang as the revival of the Gukso˘n can be traced to warrior of Sudu(蘇塗) altars. Thus, the Hwarang corps(花郞徒) as a sort of minority group of the tribal country is founded during the reign of King Chinhung(the twenty-fouth Silla sovereign), because upon ascension to the throne, the King devoted himself to the worship of Buddha and had temples built through the country, and loved elegance and physical beauty and believed in Sinson(神仙). The Hwarang(Gukso˘n) corps consists of triple menbers: a Hwarang, Songdo whose numbers purportedly went as high as one thousand men, and monk So˘ngdo(仙徒) taught Hwarang and Songdo history books, poems and hymns, i. e. hyangga(native songs; 鄕歌). The main aims which the Hwarangdo(Hwarang corps: 花郞徒) was created were to find. the young talented people, and to recommend them for the royal court. These were an outline to control over a country. The proto-type of the Hwarngdo`s organization and functions could be traced in minority group of the primitive tribal society in. Silla. She have a traditional spirit which are inherited from the time when the Hwarang was established, and accept foreign religions, that is, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. And then they was assimilated to Hwarngdo`s spirit. Therefore, the Hwarang corps` mottos would be developed from four precepts: filial piety, civility(fraternity), loyalty, and good faith(孝悌忠信) which could be traced to the Gukso˘ndo, to five precepts: loyalty, finial piety, good faith, courage, and benevolence(孝悌信勇仁) for secular life given two younger men by Buddhist monk Wongwang(圓光: d. 640) upon his return from Sui(隋) China. The education of the Hwarang corps` tao(花郞道) which is aimed at five percepts should be for rulers and warriors through training of morality and chivalry.
