Han Kyung-Chik was a leading exponent of Korean Protestantism and exerted a great influence on Korean Protestant Church. This thesis explained Han Kyung-Chik`s perception of the politics and religion relationship by borrowing the interpretative framework of Deuteronomistic Theology. Deuteronomistic Theology connected the national destiny with the individual destiny and had the viewpoint of religious reductionism that the religious attitude of the people decides the national destiny and the rise and fall of the nation. Han Kyung-Chik realized the relationship between politics and religion from his viewpoint of Deuteronomistic Theology embodied while living in the uncertain modern times of Korea and advocated it to the people through preaches. Han Kyung-Chik advocated democracy in politics and materialized strong anti-communism. In the economic aspect, he advocated capitalism under the democratic system and had interest in the economic justice. However, he regarded the national existence as the nation`s top priority, so he interpreted any factor causing social unrest as the factor for threatening the national security. Accordingly, for Han Kyung-Chik, democratization movements and economic justice movements should be done within the level of not harming the national and social stability. This perception made him devote himself all the more to the religious belief under the circumstances of national crisis and reinforce his Deuteronomistic position. In the first part of the 20thcentury, Han Kyung-Chik placed his top priority on the national existence, and in the late 20thcentury, he placed his top priority on the national stability and from the 1950s, he led full-fledged large-scale evangelism movements.
