스크린 밖 영역에서의 소리 커뮤니케이션 : 들뢰즈와 시옹의 영화이론을 중심으로 = Sound Communication in the Off-screen Field (hors-champ) : Focusing on Film Theories of Deleuze and Chion

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 현대 영화이론으로 주목을 받는 들뢰즈(Deleuze)와 영화음향 연구로 유명한 시옹(Chion)의 이론을 중심으로 "스크린 밖의 영역(오르샹, 오프-스크린)"에서 일어나는 소리 커뮤니케이션을 다룬다. 들뢰즈는 영화의 오프-스크린에서 묘사되는 '중간 공간'과 '절대적 오프'를 경험적인 차원을 넘는 '초월적' 외부영역이라고 파악한다. 영화의 음향을 '아쿠스마티크'라는 개념으로 설명하는 시옹은 점점 증대되는 청각적인 오르샹의 경향과 영향력 강화를 주장한다. 영화의 오프-스크린에서 일어나는 소리 커뮤니케이션은 영화제작자가 공동체적 의미교환을 겨냥해 오프-묘사의 특별한 표현잠재력을 이용해 영상 저편의 다른 어떤 것을 지시함으로써 자유로운 상상을 자극하고, 영화의 청각적 요소를 화면에서 격리시킴으로써 수용자가 긴장감과 불안감을 느끼는 상호작용이다. 이러한 상호작용은 영화적 공간뿐만 아니라 불가시적인 것에 의해 지배되는 오프 영역을 상상의 영역으로 확장시켜 신비감과 감정이입을 불러일으키는 간접적인 커뮤니케이션이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study attempts to deal with the sound communication in the off-screen field by focusing on film theories of Deleuze and Chion. Deleuze defines the represented "gap" or "absolute off" in the off-screen field as "transcendental" outside that goes over the empirical dimension. Chion grasps the sound of movie as "Acousmatique", and asserts that reinforcement of tendency and influence of the absence in the acoustic hors-champ is augmented more and more. The sound communication in the off-screen field is an interaction in which the film maker aims a meaning exchange for the community, stimulates the free imagination of recipient by using the special potential of off-screen-depiction, by indicating of something (somewhere) else beyond the image and by isolating of acoustic elements from the screen, and the recipient feels a feeling of tension and a sense of insecurity. Like this, the interaction as indirect communication expands the off-screen field which is ruled not only by movie space but also by invisibility, into imagination-field, and creates a mystery feeling and a empathy.
