To analysis of cigarette smoking and regular exercise and their related factors of the elderly who lived in a city, a questionnaire survey was performed to the over 65 years old aged at the asylums for the aged, respect-for-age meetings and some public places in Taejon city from September to November 2000.
Followings were the results collected and analysed from 244 old aged.
1. The proportion of cigarette smoking was 48.9% in male and 12.0% in female. The rates of cigarette smoking were higher in alcohol drinking group in both sex group.
2. The proportions of regular exercise was 37.2% in male group and that was 24.7% in female group.
3. Age, education level, source of pocket money, religious activity, spouse alive and job were not influenced to the proportion of cigarette smoking and regular exercise in both male and female group.
4. There was no relationship between cigarette smoking and regular exercise in both male and female elderly groups.
